There comes a time in everyone's life for a first. Last week I went to a demonstration for the first time. It was at the DNC fundraiser in Nashville where Bill Clinton and Al Gore were to speak. We were there to protest the Health Care Bill. I actually held a sign and shouted chants in opposition to Acorn and SEIU supporters who were supporting the bill. I found many regular people there who opposed the health care bill. It felt good to become active for the first time in my life. This was something I never ever thought I would do.
I fear for my country when I see many of the young people accepting lies for truth. People are now substituting opinions for truth. You can't have an opinion about a fact. It is either true or false and your opinion can not change the truth. Remember your opinion only counts when you are asked what you want for dinner.
Another thing that bugs me is when people say the constitution is over 200 years old, antiquated, and doesn't fit in today. The constitution was written for today. It was written to keep the Federal Government limited. Now more than ever, "We the People" have to do as our founders said and "Bind them with the Chains of the Constitution". The constitution provides "we the people" with the way to peacefully put a check on Washington. Read the constitution. It is a short document and easy to read. You don't need a lawyer to interpret it for you.
One other thought for tonight about the constitution. The constitution doesn't evolve and change with the times. If it did then you wouldn't have anything as next week, next year it would mean something different. In order to know what the constitution says you have to know what the people who wrote it meant for it to say. We have the writings of the founders to do this. The best one is the Federalist Papers, by Hamilton, Madison, and Jay.
I found this video to share.
Hope it works as this is a first for me.
